Adding a document title in the header of every PDF page helps readers navigate long documents and identifies the document when pages are separated during printing or review. Here is how to do it for free.
Go to pdfeditor.onl/header-footer. Upload your PDF.
In the header section, type the document title (e.g., "2026 Annual Report — Q1 Review"). Choose center or left alignment for the title.
Tip: For multi-section documents, use the left header for the document title and the right header for the current chapter or section name. This mirrors the conventions used in academic and professional publications.
Set the font to Helvetica or Times New Roman for a professional look. Use 9–10pt for the header text — small enough not to dominate the page but clearly readable. Consider using a subtle gray color (e.g., #666666) for headers so they recede visually behind the main content.
Click Apply & Download. The document title appears in the header on every page — or on every page except the title page if you skip the first page.
The current tool applies the same header text to all pages. For alternating odd/even headers (as used in books), the header would need to be applied separately to odd and even page subsets.
Yes. In the same tool, enter the document title in the header section and configure page numbers in the footer section simultaneously before clicking Download.
