How to Add an Arrow to a PDF Online — Free

Arrows are essential annotation tools for pointing out specific content, creating callouts, or directing attention to important sections. Here's how to add arrows to a PDF in your browser.

1

Step 1 — Open PDF Studio

Go to pdfeditor.onl/pdf-studio and upload your PDF.

2

Step 2 — Use the Pen Tool to Draw an Arrow

Select the Annotation / Pen tool. Choose a color (red is most visible) and an appropriate stroke width. Draw an arrow shape — a straight line ending in a small V or triangle for the arrowhead.

Tip: For a clean straight arrow: draw the shaft line first as one stroke, then add the arrowhead as two short diagonal lines at the endpoint. Zoom in to 150% for more precise control.

3

Step 3 — Position and Adjust

If you need to adjust the arrow's position, use the Undo button and redraw. Annotations can be repositioned immediately after drawing before confirming.

4

Step 4 — Download the Annotated PDF

Click Download PDF. The arrows are permanently embedded in the document.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add colored arrows?

Yes. Choose any color from the color picker before drawing. Red, orange, and dark blue are most visible on typical white document backgrounds.

Can I add text labels next to my arrows?

Yes. After drawing the arrow, use the Text tool to add a label nearby. The combination of an arrow and a text callout is effective for detailed annotations.

Is this free?

Yes — all annotation tools in PDF Studio are completely free.
