How to Add a Signature Image to a PDF — Upload & Place Free

If you have a scanned image of your handwritten signature, you can insert it onto any PDF page as a transparent PNG overlay — no drawing required.

1

Step 1 — Prepare Your Signature as a PNG

Sign on white paper with a dark pen. Photograph or scan it. Remove the white background using any image editor to produce a transparent PNG.

2

Step 2 — Open the Add Image Tool

Go to pdfeditor.onl/add-image-pdf and upload your PDF. Click Add Image and select your transparent PNG signature.

Tip: Ensure the PNG background is truly transparent (not white) before uploading. Transparent PNGs show a checkerboard pattern in image editors.

3

Step 3 — Position and Download

Drag the signature to the correct field. Resize using corner handles. Click Save PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this different from the Sign PDF tool?

The Sign tool lets you draw a signature in real time. Add Image lets you upload a pre-made signature image — useful for an established brand signature.

Do I need a transparent PNG?

Yes. A white-background JPG appears as a white rectangle. Use PNG with transparency for a seamless look.

Is this free?

Yes — completely free at pdfeditor.onl/add-image-pdf.
