How to Add Page Numbers Starting from a Specific Page — Free

Documents with a cover page and table of contents often need page numbers starting from the third or fourth page. Here is how to skip the front matter.

1

Open pdfeditor.onl/page-numbers

Navigate to the page numbers tool.

2

Set Start Page and Skip Pages

In the settings, set "First page to number" to the page where numbering should begin (e.g., page 3 for a document with 2 cover pages). Set the number value for that first numbered page (e.g., "1" if the third physical page should display "1").

Tip: A common book or report layout: pages 1-2 are cover/TOC (no number), page 3 is the first body page showing number "1". Set start page = 3, starting number = 1.

3

Apply and Download

Click Apply Page Numbers. The first two pages have no number; page 3 shows "1". Download the result.
